Multibeam surveying from the ice | Marine Geodesy
Marine Geodesy developed, tested and commissioned an ice-based hydrographic system using the Hydro-Tech MS400U multibeam echo sounder.
The system surveys the seabed by rotating the submerged assembly beneath the ice. A 220 mm diameter unit contains the multibeam transducers, an inertial measurement unit and a sound velocity sensor. It is deployed through a drilled ice hole 250 mm in diameter.
