Inspection of hydraulic structures and components that remain fully or partly submerged during operation.

Description

Underwater inspection assesses the submerged structures and components of hydraulic facilities. The methods are selected according to the object and the purpose of the investigation.

Hydroacoustic methods include high-resolution multibeam surveys and inspection with scanning and side-scan sonars. Work is carried out from specialised small survey vessels, platforms or remotely operated vehicles.

Visual inspection uses underwater photography and video recorded by divers or ROVs. Hydroacoustic and visual information can be used together to document the condition and geometry of the submerged structures.
