Pre-lay survey was performed along the design route with a total length of 2138 km in severe weather conditions of Pacific Ocean. Marine surveys included: 

• Topographic survey of the coastal areas; 
• Hydrographic MBES survey (maximum measured depth 7761 m); 
• Geological survey (vibro corer /gravity corer every 1 km for areas less than 15 m WD and every 4 km for 15-1000 m WD); 
• Hydrometeorological survey (tide, wave and current measurement from deployed bottom stations); 
• Ecological survey (marine mammals and birds observations, water and ground sampling and lab testing); 
• UXO survey (in the residual mine risk area)
• Diving survey at coastal areas
• Archaeological research
• Charting and reporting
• State Expertize appraisal of survey reports
